Joining a Mentored Peer Group could make a big difference to you and your business
by Olivier Carion
Sales Masters Guild Mentor, Olivier Carion, asks “Have you ever thought about joining a Mentored Peer Group?”.
Let’s start with another question; “Do you feel lonely as a business owner?”
Facing your business challenges on your own can be hard. I know, I’ve been there myself and I often come across business owners who feel the same way.
The good news is that it doesn’t have to be that way. We are ‘social animals’ and there is something about meeting with like-minded men and women who share the same ambition to grow their business and personal income significantly. Such an environment exists in the form of peer groups.
I’m not talking about network meetings which all have their intrinsic value, although the nature of the interaction does not allow for in-depth support. Peer groups are very different, they offer the opportunity to share challenges with the group in all confidentiality. What is said in the room stays in the room.
When hearing a particular problem or challenge a member of the group faces in his or her business, the members of the group often realise that, in actual fact, their own challenges are not unique. The similarity between challenges across diverse businesses is often a surprise to newcomers. Not only that but being able to hear the input and insight of the group is both encouraging and empowering.
Are you struggling with staff issues, cash-flow, time management, growth strategies, clarity and focus, upscaling, exit strategies? These are some of the questions that are shared and discussed. There are many others of course.
What, then, are the key benefits of joining a mentored peer group?
When motivated and ambitious people come together, strong synergies become apparent and amazing results follow. Learning from the group is priceless. Giving input and suggesting possible solutions creates a sense of community, of safe community.
In addition, peer groups are an environment where a form of accountability gradually develops between members. This happens naturally, almost organically. Imagine what it would be like if you sat in a group of 10 or 12 business owners who are as motivated as you are. You are being given an opportunity to share what has worked particularly well in your business over the last month and perhaps what has not been up to expectations.
Think of the support you would get from the rest of the group, with everyone rejoicing with you over your achievements and giving you support if you’ve under-achieved. Imagine the empowerment provided by this constructive accountability.
This is why I enjoy leading mentored peer groups. Each meeting is an opportunity to focus on one key aspect of business growth, with members providing input and ideas, as well as sharing their knowledge and experience. It is not surprising that these mentored peer groups help members increase their personal sales and income, grow their connections and form real friendships with fellow members of the entrepreneur peer group.
If you’ve not had an opportunity to see, feel and taste what a mentored peer group is all about, why not try? Take advantage of being invited as a guest for this very purpose and see for yourself whether a mentored peer group is for you.
Olivier’s Mastermind Peer Groups run regularly and are open to entrepreneurs and business owners looking to grow.
