Jo Driver Looks at the Benefits of Peer Group Mentoring

Peer Group Mentoring is one of the keys to helping achieve their success.

What is going on in the business world today? It seems that everyone these days is an ‘Expert’ in their industry after doing whatever it is they do, for either a short amount of time or in some cases just going on a course themselves and then announcing that they are the ‘Expert’. Many, it seems, then go on to start selling high priced training or coaching off the back of their short lived experience.

Over the last 15 years of growing my property portfolio, it seems that many ‘Wealth Creation’ training companies are selling extremely expensive property and business training courses.

What really frustrates me is the idea of a ‘churn rate’, that it is acceptable to bring people in large groups, sell them the idea of a dream life, impart some knowledge, then send them out again without a care as to whether they succeed or not.

When I first started my property business, I did so by investing a fair sum of money into my education. I initially went on a two day training course with someone who had owned their own business for many years and had later branched out into a property education business.

It certainly opened my mind to different ways that property deals could be achieved. I learned a ton of useful information, but I also knew if this business was to be successful I had to take huge action and put into practice what I had learned. Let’s face it, we all know that you only retain a small percentage of what you learn on a training course.

Invest in a Mentor to keep you focused and accountable.

Many successful business owners these days have a mentor. So I invested further, working with a mentor, someone who would sit down with me and plan my business with me based on what I wanted to achieve, someone who would be there for me if I hit a challenge that I didn’t know how to deal with, or someone to brainstorm an idea with, who would keep me focused and accountable to my goals.

I’ve since been on further property and personal development training, been a part of mastermind groups, making that investment in myself, to achieve the growth in my business, was my best decision to date.

After having run my own businesses for over 20 years and successfully investing in property and seeing this ‘churn rate’ in so many training programs on the increase, I realised that I wanted to help and educate others to achieve their version of success, but I wanted to do things very differently.

I knew that if I worked with people over longer periods of time, uncovered whatever was holding them back, focused on what they wanted to achieve, and was there for them through the process, nudging them forwards, they could achieve whatever they were after, as long as they were open minded and ambitious and willing to put in the work.

As I looked back, to reflect on my own time learning about property, I realised that the two elements that were so vital to my success were the mentor and the mastermind group. The groups were made up of people with a similar mission, that I could meet up with, to throw ideas around, ask advice and support from, network with, and in a couple of cases they were people that I later joint ventured on property deals with. I knew how powerful it is to be around like minded, ambitious people.

When I met John Kettley and the Sales Masters Guild I learned how John had been helping business owners to grow a high income business. I believe that offering small, highly interactive training workshops and mentorship via a peer group, are two of the key ways we can help you achieve success.
You bring the ambition, I’ll provide the education and support.

If you have just started out in business and you are finding business a little challenging or if you want to accelerate your business to a new level and earn more income, I want to help you.

You bring the ambition and I’ll provide the education and support you need.

Whatever ideas you have about what might be possible, I can tell you that most are likely possible, with the right education and support.
